We are proud to announce that Rhovica Neuroimaging AG has been named a winner of the FutureHealth Basel Innovation Challenge 2026, a competition that brings together the most promising solutions set to transform patient care.
A Prestigious Stage for Bold Healthcare Innovation
FutureHealth Basel is one of Switzerland’s influential gatherings for healthcare leaders, investors, clinicians, and innovators. This year’s edition brought together a rich and inspiring program centered on prevention, mental health, and building more efficient and resilient healthcare systems, the perfect arena to showcase solutions that truly move the needle in patient care.
Throughout the day, Martin Hlavica and Saeid Kasiri engaged in meaningful conversations with attendees at the Rhovica booth, sharing our vision of safer and more precise emergency neurosurgery through bedside navigation.
The Problem We Are Solving
Every year, thousands of patients suffering from severe head trauma or brain hemorrhage require an external ventricular drain (EVD) — one of the most critical and time-sensitive neurosurgical procedures in emergency care. Today, this procedure is performed blindly, relying solely on anatomical landmarks, with misplacement rates of 28%, leading to repeated attempts and increased risk for the patient.
With SoNav™, our EVD catheter equipped with miniaturized sensors, we transform this blind procedure into a real-time, precision-guided intervention performed directly at the patient’s bedside. Blind brain surgery procedures will become a thing of the past.
Rhovica Named a Winner of the Innovation Challenge
Winning the FutureHealth Basel Innovation Challenge 2026 is a meaningful recognition that the problem we are solving is real and urgent. We extend our sincere thanks to the jury and the FutureHealth Basel team for this recognition and the visibility it brings to our mission. Our congratulations also go to all the innovators recognized alongside us for the outstanding quality of their solutions.
